Vice President, Government Relations
This position is responsible for directly assisting and supporting HPC’s Senior Vice President for Public Affairs in managing all aspects of HPC’s public affairs activities. She or he has direct responsibilities to organize, lead, facilitate, or assist in HPC’s lobbying and related advocacy work with congressional and executive branch officials on the full spectrum of policy issues undertaken by HPC. May develop legislative strategy, gather and assess political intelligence, organize and lead conference calls and meetings, and engage with staff and executives at member firms, other trade associations and advocacy groups, Congress, and at executive branch and regulatory agencies. Is also responsible for persuasively advancing HPC’s policy positions and enhancing the integrity and clarity of HPC’s policy views end expertise with stakeholders.
This individual will have a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in government relations, lobbying and/or housing finance policy. Experience interacting with executive management and senior leadership is required. Knowledge of key stakeholders in housing finance, including HPC members, other trade associations, regulatory agencies, and executive branch and legislative officials is needed. Direct work on Capitol Hill or with one or more federal executive agency or department in government affairs or policy work is required. Graduate degree preferred. Occasional business travel.
